Can anyone tell me the difference between Configuration management and version control ???
In a word, version control is part of configuration management.
CM is more global in scope than simple version control. It includes things like your processes, build and release methodologies, move to production strategies, setting up and mainting user profiles, etc, etc, just to name a few items.
Try googling for "software configuration management". I got over 86 million hits. You'll be reading for a while...
So whats the testers role in COnfiguration Management ???
can u give a suggestion please
Configuration Management is the process defined to maintain the documents in the specified folder. Giving the rights to the users. Maintaining the track of the documents
Version control is the process identified to the specific document.
are you sure? Is this how your organization defines it? I wonder if "DSquared's" overview above is more accurate.
