   Our business is mostly hosting solutions for clients. Web (MS SharePoint) and Moblie services are managed through the Web and hosted in house. So our solutions which consists of Web hosting servers and Web and Mobile clients, requires regression and performance (load, strees and scalability) testing. Concentration of the Web end for now (mobile may be later in the game), We are looking at 3 products: IBM's Rational, Borland's Silk, and HP's Quick Test (formerly Mercury)

   I have done extensive research and I understand their different modules cover most different types of testing. We narow it down to the three I mentioned and maybe an Open source solution dev can work on to complement whatever was missing. From your experience I appreciate any about WinRunner opinions

   I am perplexed. You refer to "Quick Test [Pro]" but are asking about WinRunner? They are two different tools.

   Also, you want to perform load/stress/scalability testing. Neither QTP not WR is suited to that task.

   To get QTP you have to buy WinRunner and when you purchase WR you get QTP as a box prize, or at least that's how it was last year. WinRunner is not very effetive with Web pages, that's supposed to be the benefit of QTP. WR works pretty good on server/client applications though.

   I appreciate your replys, but it does not answer my questions. Actually I just got of the phone with HP and found that Win Runner will not be supported anymore and QTP is taking it's place, they are not different tools, tehy do teh same! One new wer than teh other. there is minimal load testing capabilities in QTP, but for load testing I should get Load Runner... if I stick with Mercury.

   I just wanted to state what we do in my company so everyone gets an idea of my needs. taken from that, I like to hear opinions of what "Suite" of tools have work better for different people and why. We are considering, Mercury, Silk and Rational. So far Mercury tools seem better reviewed.
