Who says the V-model does not cover regression testing?? It perfectly does.
First answer the question 'What is regression testing?'. Then look back at the V-model...
Regression testing is a test activity that is done during each testing phase. Be it unit testing, integration testing, system testing, or acceptance testing, you should think about regression testing.
So during each planning and preparation activity of the V-model, you should not only think about testing new features, but also about testing that the unchanged parts of the system still work as intended.
When I recently explained the V-model to a group of people, I knew that regression testing would be a question. So I added the letter 'R' in every corner of the test phases, clearly indicating that regression testing is part of all test phases.
im Satisfied with your answer. But still im having one doubt. If V-model covers Regression Testing, then why we are not mentioning in V-model Diagram. If i want to convince any one how can i convince them.can you Justify it?
Hi,
The V-model is just a model. It just provides a point of view. I'm currently following a course and as part of the introduction the V-model was also used. One remark of an attendee was 'Jee, again the same V-model, and yet again another presentation. I must have seen more than 2 representations by now'.
In fact, the V is used as the basis, showing the links between the development part and the testing part during a project. Everyone using the V-model emphasizes the parts that are most important to them. So if regression is important to you, just show it on the model as I did (http://www.geocities.com/belgiansqa/VVmodel.jpg).
